The 20 Best Airlines in the World 2015
Since the dawn of time humans have looked up to watch birds flying majestically across the sky, with awe, intrigue and yearning we’ve all wished we could fly. The human imagination is a powerful tool, one of which that has empowered us, defined us and made us grasp for the unknown, while we may not have been able to fly under our own power, we’ve envisioned, created and perfected a way uniquely our own to fly through the sky.
The pioneers that created the technology responsible for carrying us through the skies could not have envisioned the transformational changes that would follow, the industry which started off on the 1st of January 1914, the St Petersburg-Tampa Airboat Line became the world’s first scheduled passenger airline service carrying pilot and a single passenger 21 miles between St. Petersburg and Tampa.
Today according to IATA, on average every day more than 8 million people fly, 3.1 billion people flew through the skies in 2013, at 3.3 billion annual flyers(which we are already past) it works out to be equivalent to a staggering 44% of the world population.
With over 3.3 billion annual airline passengers and over 2000 airlines flying through the air, it’s fair to say that passengers should have a reasonable opinion on the airlines they fly.
We based our ranks on data from Kytra who at the World Airline Awards ceremony at Paris air show announced the world's Top 100 Airlines in 2015, voted for by airline customers around the world. Along with ranking the airlines we have added numbers of destinations, countries, number of passenger and cargo airplanes, and number of airplanes on order.
