For charm, history and an abundance of colours, Bur Dubai and Deira aren’t to be missed. South of the Creek, Bur Dubai is the state’s oldest area, and home to a number of historical sites, such as the Heritage Village and Diving Village, Sheikh Saeed Al Maktoum House and Dubai Museum.
From its early days as a central pearl diving site, Dubai has blossomed, and its relatively unknown history is full of spices, jewels and tapestries.
North of the Creek is Deira, where Dubai’s heart can be explored. The entire city bloomed around the Creek, and it’s the best spot to see the confluence of East and West, old and new, and past and present. Shop around in Deira’s Fish Market or the famous Spice Souk or Gold Souk: the memories of the colours, smells and sights will last a lifetime.
