You’ll find every type of evening entertainment in Dubai. Whether you want elegant cocktail bars, bustling dance floors or cosy Irish pubs, the Emirate has done a brilliant job of recreating all of the western world’s favourite watering holes. Though drinking laws are strict and respect must be shown in terms of local Emiratis and customs, a fun-filled night out can always be found.
Depending on where you go, you may need to book a table in advance. This is often the case for the more luxurious bars with table service, but most bars, clubs and cafes are fine to turn up at on a spontaneous decision.
The majority of hotels in Dubai have their own clubs and bars, as these premises are more likely to have alcohol licences. Brilliant bartenders, wacky themes and outrageous nights are the norm – and are more than an excuse to get dressed up. International DJs often play sets at the bigger nightclubs, and an increasing number of musicians and bands are adding Dubai to their list of tour dates.
For incredible views head to The Rooftop Swimming Pool, a small but exclusive bar which is a great venue for watching the phenomenal sunsets. Barasti, a huge three-level bar and club is located on the beach, and is your best bet for top DJs, nights packed with dancing, and a relatively young crowd. Vu’s Bar has a whopping 200 cocktails to choose from, while 360◦ is the closest venue Dubai has to a bar in Ibiza.
If you prefer something calmer, Dubai’s malls house spectacular theatre houses, where you can catch global performances in luxurious surroundings.
Whatever drink you prefer and evening entertainment you fancy, you’ll find it in the heart of Dubai’s bustling, vibrant city.
