In Dubai’s tradition of being bigger, better and bolder than its competitors around the world, the Dubai World Cup has quickly raced to the top of the league when it comes to horse racing. Known for its huge purse, high quality horses and heavenly racecourse, the Dubai World Cup is one of the biggest events in the UAE calendar, as well as the richest horse race in the world.
If you can’t schedule your trip around the Cup, usually held in March, a trip to its home, the Meydan Racecourse is a must. Fitted with both a dirt and turf track, a mile long grandstand, and a 5-star trackside hotel, the Meydan is impressive as a racecourse, as well as a piece of architecture. While you’re there you can have a quick game of golf at the attached 9-hole course, or explore the adjacent racing museum.
Meets occur between November and March, so head to the Meydan for a glamorous night of high speed racing, gourmet cuisine and top evening entertainment.
Godolphin Racing, the internationally known group, has its headquarters in Dubai, and with their strong link to Frankie Dettori and Ascot Races, being present when they race is a privilege, and a wonderful thing to see.
