With miles of clear turquoise water, it’s no surprise that water sports are so popular in Dubai. Escape from the heat into cool seas, and try your hand at something you’ve heard of – or something completely unique to the Emirate!
Kitesurfing has soared in popularity in Dubai, so book yourself in for a few hours of lessons, and see how fast you can go with a combination of surf and sky! For the old school approach, wind surfing is still as popular as ever, and requires much less tuition. If you’ve had a go at snowboarding on the ski slope, tried sand surfing in the desert, you’re ready to take on wakeboarding, and tick off all three disciplines.
Snorkelling and scuba diving schools are in constant demand in Dubai, thanks to brilliant dive areas and ships sunk on purpose to create exciting wrecks for you to discover. You can even enrol on a PADI course if you want to take your diving to the next level.
For the speed addicts out there, speedboat trips and jet-skiing are favourite pastimes, so find out where your nearest operator is, and give them a go! Most hotels have their own water sports tuition, hire and activities, so always ask at reception if there’s something you want to have a go at. If your hotel doesn’t offer it, the one next door most likely will.
Going on holiday is all about trying new things, and in the water sports department, Dubai can offer you a host of wild and wacky activities. Try knee boarding: surfing, but on your knees. It’s fast paced, and you’re more than likely going to end up with a mouthful of water, but it’s great fun, and a great way to cool off.
